Ashley has been dancing her heart out with us online and has shared some of her journey with us below! Thanks for being a VixenπŸ’•β¬‡πŸ’ƒβœ¨

1) What do you do when you’re not in pole dancing/lyra/aerial classes?
I am either sleeping or working as an administrator at a dental office, considering this quarantine life now, I am usually in bed, then when I feel like it, I work on my splits, and occasionally dancing.

2) How did you first discover pole dancing?

It was through my friend Nina who is also part of the BV family and we decided to do the Groupon

3) Do you have any previous dance, fitness or sports experience?
Ballet: 10 years, Jazz: 3 years, Hip Hop: 1 year

4) What appealed to you about pole dancing that made you decide to try it?
Anything that has dancing in it makes me want to try it! A lot of people also mentioned that it was a great workout without thinking about it. So I thought I can get fit without weights while dancing? Sign me up!!

5 ) How did you come to be a member at Brass Vixens?

That was a blur. After my Groupon, I waited a while, but I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Something inside me was telling me I need to go back. A few months later I bought my intro pass. Now the rest is history. I live at BV now!

6) What were your first impressions?

I thought all the people in the studio were so good and I wanted to be them! I guess the best way to describe it is when the little girl in me finally gets to meet her favourite Disney princess and you’re just in awe so you tell yourself I wanna be you when I grow up!!

7) What keeps you committed to pole dancing?

I think I had tunnel vision because I could only focus on the instructor and I was telling myself I need to be them. How do I be that sexy? How do I be flawless? I also made a lot of friends at the studio who keep pushing me and cheering me on. I even have friends and family members who are not pole dancers who love watching me pole dance, so I must be doing something right! With all this positivity on my side, how can I stop pole dancing?

8) What do you feel is a crucial element for a successful class experience?

Never compare yourself to anyone else in the room! Everyone started at the same position and worked hard to get strong and level up. No one is competing with each other, dance for yourself. I am sure people chose to take a pole dance class because they think it is something fun to do, so keep that mindset of having fun!

9) What has been an exciting moment for you on your pole/fitness journey?

When I decided to sign up for my first solo to perform in front of an audience. I danced for myself for a long time, but it has been a while since I performed in front of people! Getting that nervous feeling before you go on. I have also never choreographed my own routine before. I would have my notebook with me all the time and if an idea popped up I would write it down even while I was at work! I forgot how much performance meant to me and being on stage. After that, I have been performing in every showcase at the studio!

10) Do you have any pole/fitness goals you’re working towards?

I know a lot of people have been dogging on me for this one, but to level up into interpole status. I know the people right now screaming this at me!

11) How has dancing and taking classes at Brass Vixens affected the rest of your life and sense of self?

I have gained a lot of self-confidence! Anyone who knew me before BV, they would have never thought of me dancing in a bikini on a pole! I am so conservative, proper, shy, quiet. I know the BV family is laughing at this right now thinking that is definitely not me! Taking classes at BV has brought back the happiness that I never knew I lost. It gives me something to look forward to and it definitely makes my life less boring.

12) What has surprised you the most?
I think it was definitely the muscles I gained and did not notice! I have long sleeve shirts that are tighter, and my mom even told me, “Ash I think you’re taking too many classes. Your arms are too big!” Also, I am surprised to have so many new friends at the studio and we are all talking to each other 24/7! I cannot believe they have not been in my life before!

14) Heels or no heels?!
How can you choose? It’s no heels to warm up, and then put those heels on my dear peaches!!πŸ‘

Gorgeous pic that looks to be the work of Kaylens😍
Sending love to the polefam today and always!
Stay safe and sexyπŸ’•
